ERASMUS+ Project: 'Oneness'
Creating Inclusive Schools and Communities
Our European project, “Oneness: ” under the Erasmus+ programme was focused on learning more about inclusion and inclusive schools and communities. Through this project, we were able to observe international teaching practices through job-shadowing, co-learn with educators across Europe in courses, host visitors, and our students were able to experience cross-cultural peer-to-peer learning!
The project aimed to achieve a deeper understanding of inclusion, well-being, diversity, interdisciplinarity, and inclusive practices on the individual, class, and whole-school levels. Our specific objectives are:
(1) Inclusive Individualised Plans: Developing individualized and differentiated learning plans that consider the individual needs of students.
(2) Creative, Holistic, and Inclusive Assessment Practices: Developing systematic assessment tools that consider the whole child and their diverse needs.
(3) Inclusion and Wellbeing Policy: Developing whole school policies and systems that support the individual and group wellbeing of students and staff.
Student Group Mobility
Townshend International School (Hlouboka - Czech Republic)
Our school pupil group mobility went to Townsend International School in Czech Republic. A school focused on developing moral programs, bridging cultural divides, and similar to ourselves were interested in developing their knowledge on oneness. The mobility included a valuable component of peer-to-peer learning, fostering a collaborative exchange of knowledge and experiences between the students from both schools!
Job-Shadowing

"Observing schools and learning from other teachers is always helpful for personal growth and professional development. I am grateful for this opportunity." - Teacher
ISC NARDI school in (Porto San Giorgio - Italy)
Our first job shadowing visit as part of this project was a visit to the Montessori school of ISC Nardi. They also had the unique opportunity to explore the historic Chiaravalle, including a visit to the home of Maria Montessori!
MontessoriSkolanCasa (Gothenburg - Sweden)
We also visited a locally well-known Montessori school in Gothenburg to observe how they utilise their spaces creatively and engage in inclusive practices. During our visit, we also had the opportunity to visit the Faculty of Education of the University of Gothenburg and have a guided tour of the Department of Mathematics and the National Center of Mathematics Development!
Escola Martinet in (Barcelona - Spain)
Our staff also visited Martinet School to learn more about the hands-on approaches they use to work with children with disabilities. Upon learning more about our school during the visit, they expressed interest, and as part of their new project, a few of their staff team will be visiting us soon!
Courses
"It is pleasing to see that many of these concepts reinforce what we already apply in Brilliant Stars. It is always inspiring to be able to network with educators from different countries."
'Learning for and through wellbeing' by KnowledgePro (Stockholm - Sweden)
Three of our teachers had the opportunity to attend a course on the importance of enhancing well-being in schools, exploring the benefits of interdisciplinary learning which reinforces cognitive gains, learner strengths and engagement, and critical thinking. They explored how to make learning more meaningful, and child-centered, and think of new creative ways of how to engage students in their education.
'Integrating Minority, Migrant & Refugee Children at European Schools & Society' by ShipCon (Barcelona - Spain)
Another team attended a course focused on improving well-being in schools, especially for minority, migrant, and refugee children. Our team learned about some of the more prevalent challenges of children with disadvantaged backgrounds in education and exchanged practical ideas on integrating theory and policies. The training also covered effective ways to work with minorities and refugees, providing our staff with useful insights for creating inclusive learning environments.
Expert Visitor
As part of this project, we also had the opportunity to host an 'expert visitor' for a week who was able to observe our school practices and offer context-relevant first-hand feedback and support!
